承蒙众将军及国内外各界朋友厚爱，八百流沙已走过了五个年头。能让这段“比距离更遥远的旅程”成为很多人生命中的一场“比挑战更丰富的人生”，我们深感荣幸。

With the kind support of our friends, both foreign and Chinese, who come from all walks of life, Ultra Gobi has already celebrated its fifth anniversary. It has been our honour to make Ultra Gobi, a race where the participants “run farther that you ever could, take on the challenge that you never thought possible” - to become something that is more than just a race – Ultra Gobi creates unforgettable personal history that is central to the lives of everyone who took part in it.
 

2020年注定是一个载入史册的年头。在国内疫情防控形势持续向好，部分赛事已恢复报名之际，我们经慎重考虑，仍然做了一个艰难的决定：取消2020八百流沙极限赛。

The year 2020 will go into the annals of history as annus horribilis. Even though the coronavirus epidemic has largely been brought under control in China and many races have resumed registration, after long and careful consideration we have come to an extremely decision to cancel 2020 Ultra Gobi.
 

对于一场400公里自导航·自负重·自补给的诸神之战，系统备赛训练时间的缩短，国际顶尖高手的缺席，八百流沙将不成为八百流沙。

The global pandemic left runners without the time necessary to do the systematic training that is required to take part in Ultra Gobi – a non-stop, self-navigating, self-supported super-ultra. With that in mind, and, without the foreign athletes who are now unable to attend the race - Ultra Gobi will not be Ultra Gobi.
 

祝福关注赛事的每一位跑者、志愿者，希望“有生之年 八百流沙”这八个字，可以跨越时空，陪伴你们接下来的每一个挑战。

Together with our runners and volunteers we will soon embark on a journey - not of 400km, but in time - to the year 2021, where we will stand by each other’s side at the start line of Ultra Gobi 2021.
